Our story starts out with Victor Marquez (played by Elias Castillo), a down and out paranormal investigative reporter. Victor has been suffering from writers block and is coming up on a deadline without even an idea for a story. This is compounded by a severe drinking problem which has led to the deterioration of his marriage. He is currently going through a brutal divorce and child custody case and he has a DUI which he has been hiding from everyone for fear it will affect his job and his divorce and custody proceedings.
In an act of desperation he reaches out to a childhood friend, Kyle Brooks (played by Shane Dean), who is a police detective and asks for some help with a story lead. Kyle agrees to meet Victor as he has something he thinks might work.
The story lead that Kyle provides is actually a snuff film depicting the violent rape and murder of a young woman Madison Miller (played by Aneliese Roetger). After viewing this demented realistic film Victor will never be the same.
Victor's life spirals into chaos after this. Visions and images of the ghostly Madison seem to haunt him and he cannot escape them. They become more real and more desperate with each encounter and Victor begins to lose what little hold he has on reality as the obsession to find Madison's killer grows within him.
Being a paranormal investigative reporter has made Victor many enemies over the years. As it is with all enemies they like to strike when people are at their weakest. This is also true in Victor's case and just when you think things could not get any worse for him people from his past begin to emerge and haunt and threaten him as well.
The drunken manic state that Victor is in leads a sense of unreality to the happenings, leaving an audience wondering if all this is real or just illusions created by a tortured drunken soul in a man.
In the Virgin Murders you will encounter ghosts, killers, vampires, and sadistic body modifying cults of people. And with each encounter it will leave you wondering what is real and what is a fabrication of the mind as Victor sinks deeper and deeper into the darkness.
The ultimate, bloody, violent conclusion of the movie will leave you shaking your head in disbelief and dying to watch it a second time to see if you can pick up on the clues that lead to the ending.
